EligIfReceives allows the user to specify that receipt of certain kind(s) of public assistance income exempt legal aliens from eligibility restrictions based on immigrant status. IfRcvFoodStampsPreReform allows the user to specify that legal aliens receiving SNAP benefits prior to PRWORA are exempt from immigrant related eligibility restrictions (this requires the user to impute which SNAP benefit recipients received SNAP benefits prior to PRWORA, and input this information through variable rule PreReformFoodStampsVar). Legal aliens who have been in the United States for at least the number of years specified by EligibleIfInUSNumberOfYears are simulated as exempt from immigrant eligibility restrictions.

It should be noted that immigrants found eligible through the above program rules could still be found ineligible due to sponsor deeming. However, the rule ExemptSponsorDeemUnderAge exempts immigrants from the sponsor deeming test if they are under the age specified by the rule.

Starting with version 53.0, a variable that identifies a non-citizen's sponsor in the household can be provided through program rule SponsorID. If a variable is specified in SponsorID then sponsor deeming is skipped for non-citizens whose sponsor is part of their unit at least for one month of the year.
